Curriculum and Key Stages
An international, innovative and multilingual curriculum for the 21st Century
The curriculum at Agora Sant Cugat International School, Agora Patufet and Agora Pipo Infant Schools focuses on real life global challenges and their context. This makes our students aware of global issues from the past, present and future and which affect different countries, cultures and populations. We create ethical people, who show an interest in wanting to understand and deal with global problems and issues.
Agora Sant Cugat – IB World School
Agora Sant Cugat is an IB World School. Infant and Primary pupils at Agora Sant Cugat International School, Agora Patufet and Agora Pipo follow the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB). In a worldwide study called the International Assessment of Schools, pupils studying PYP and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) of the IB performed better than pupils that were following other programmes.
At the baccalaureate stage, we offer the possibility to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Numerous reports show that Diploma Programme graduates complete their university studies earlier than their peers, feel more prepared to undertake research-based university work, and are better able to cope with demanding workloads and time management challenges.
Multilingual Learning
In our multilingual context, learning English as a first foreign language is given special importance. Our pupils are introduced to the language from the earliest years, alongside the official languages. Mandarin Chinese is introduced in Infant Education and is offered up to the first years of Primary. A third foreign language – French or German – is introduced at a later stage.
Infant Education
A true educational adventure for the youngest ones typified by its immersion in English, creative development, emotional intelligence and musical stimulation. Each child receives personalised attention that makes them the main players of their own learning.
Primary Education
Our pupils study the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate (PYP) in a multilingual context, with personalised attention from their tutors that go through study techniques and habits that ensure their academic success in the future.
Secondary Education
The secondary curriculum fosters dialogue and communication and focuses on habits which make for constant and disciplined people. Trilingualism is one of our project’s mainstays as we seek global and universal readiness in our pupils.
National Baccalaureate
The four Spanish Baccalaureate options are on offer at our school: humanities, social sciences, health sciences and scientific/technical. These options have been chosen as they are the ones that give access to the widest range of university degrees. All our students go on to study the degree of their choice.
International Baccalaureate
The Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate (IB) is a prestigious programme that is recognised by the top universities worldwide. Our students can combine their studies in both the International and National Baccalaureates and obtain both qualifications.
High-performance sports
An international sports technification programme with BTT Tennis Academy, in which students will be able to combine high-performance sports training and their academic career with a tailor-made study plan.
